Oleg Alexandrovich Tretyakov was born on Feb. 4, 1938, in Ukraine. He received the M.S. (1960) and the Candidate of Science degree (equivalent of Ph.D.) in Radio Physics (1964), next the Doctor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics (1973)- all from Kharkov National University (Ukraine).

He received the Soros Professor Certificate and Grant in 1995 from the ISSEP Foundation, USA. He is Chairman of Commission B (Fields and Waves) in National URSI Committee of Ukraine. He served (1993-2002) as Co-Editor of the International Monograph Series on Advanced Electromagnetics in Science House Co., Ltd., Tokyo.

He is a Vice-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Radio Physics and Radio Astronomy (Kharkov, Ukraine) and a member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Electromagnetics, USA. He has served on numerous technical program committees and steering committees of international onferences (2001 URSI International Symposium on Electromagnetic Theory, Mathematical Methods in Electromagnetic Theory, and others).

His research area covers: plane wave and wave beam diffraction; wave scattering from rough surfaces and wave propagation in random media; linear and regular nonlinear phenomena, and dynamic chaos in microwave oscillators and amplifiers; time domain electromagnetics. He works now as a Visiting Professor Doctor at Gebze Institute of Technology in Turkey.
